The Uniting Girls Against Poverty (UGAP) medical camp, is a vital organization that empowers girls and women including with disabilities and their children in Kenya.
The organization has undertaken projects to increase nutrition through increasing food security, provision of sexual and reproductive health services and rights, sensitization on HIV/AIDs, rehabilitation of women with disabilities who are victims of torture, provision of relief in terms of auxiliaries such as wheelchairs, clutches etc, food, clothes among others and provision of employment opportunities through acquired vacation skills training and financial capital access.
However, funding limitations have been a challenge, affecting the scope of our initiatives. People with disabilities in Kenya face numerous challenges in accessing healthcare, including physical barriers, stigma, discrimination, and inadequate facilities.
These barriers are compounded by broader issues such as poverty which further limit access to necessary services. Effort are ongoing to address these changes and improve the inclusivity and accessibility of health care services for girls and Women including with disabilities.
